I bought this for my 8 year old daughter on the basis of the reviews on Amazon. I was not disappointed! It really is easy to do (even if you're not that creative yourself!). Use the stencils to create catwalk sensations - I bought it a week ago and have already sent for the refill pack as we have run out of hangers to display our creations. Loads of fantastic paper, sequins, beads, ribbon and glue (but only 20 hangers). My daughter absolutely loves it and can do it herself without any help - will definitely be buying more for presents for friends etc. Without a doubt this is fantastic value for money and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys craft activities (adults and children). You will not be disappointed!
What gives this book a very distinguished credibility and authenticity is the pertinent fact that the author formulated his ideas while as a Holocaust prisoner. Immediately the reader is taken out of the comfort zone as the captive and dehumanising realities of such a barbaric context are presented.
Frankl looks very very deeply at what provides human strength to get over the most forlorn, hopeless and torturing circumstances. Nietzche's dictum "What doesn't kill us only make us stronger?" planted itself in my mind throughout this book and just did not move.
It's very difficult to find any sort of fault with any story where humanity can triumph inhumanity, it really is. There's just such a sense of sadness and misery that the fact that someone can ruminate the meaning of life is relation to love is almost surreal. It's almost as if every veneer of life is stripped back such that all that is left is a naked conciousness which tries to assert itself like a immutable flame which must burn for some intrinsic, innate reason that can only be explained by a very penetrating and intense love.
It's not a scientific approach with a ground breaking theory. It's a remarkable human story containing a most precious and valid reflection from an intelligent man who was lucky and strong enough to make it through something our worst nightmares could not even come close to.
Have just finished reading this latest book and yes I was not dissapointed. Okay, Dirk gets into loads of scrapes as usual and it was nice to have him back with Al the last few novels have got him retired off so it was a nice surprise to have him back. Nothing unusual about the storyline always some trouble up ahead, it was topical and the homework had been done explicitley as usual. I enjoyed the story and read the book in about four sittings but I am a Cussler fan and if you like easy going 'Indiana Jones' style fiction then this book as his others is going to excite you and keep you wanting more, Well Done Clive!
If you ever feel you are too happy this is the book for you! Badly written two-dimensional stereotypical characters in a totally depressing story. Do not recommend at all
A non-demanding book, an easy read. This book has in it every thing bad that other reviewers have mentioned; simplistic in plot, heavily contrived events and clichéd characters but thoroughly enjoyable for all that.
Grace, the narrator is a mixed up character; in her younger persona she fancies herself as a lady detective but questions nothing. The people around her act strangely and have confusing conversation about and to her but she investigates nothing. Later, outside the book, she must find her brain and becomes a professor of archaeology unearthing secrets of history. For the main part of the novel she is a little mouse accepting her position in life and the chaos going on around her with equal helplessness. Other characters are also strange, why did we need to know about the dust phobic Danish grandmother?
The fact of the writer not being British shows in places where the plot swerves even further from reality. The characters also become more clichéd but this did not distract too much and this reader, at least, did not guess the poet's nemesis.
As the blurb points out this is a summer read and is a page-turner exactly as described on the cover. Do not expect more than that and enjoy this book.
Really enjoyed this book - very funny, rambling writing on a range of topics. Manages to be lighthearted and very entertaining, with some moments that are surprisingly poignant. Really hope this book isn't overlooked due to recent "scandal" as it's a great read.
Wolf Island is a very good book. Full of twist and turns and ended on a cruel cliff hanger.
Grubbs Grady and his friends must fight hordes of demons and werewolves. Grubbs tries to hold his inner wolf in. He and his friends try to survive and escape. This story is at the same time of the seventh book, showing what Grubbs was doing while the famous magician Bernabaus fought his battle, (which is in book seven.)
Good for 12+. There is less action than in the previous books, but a better plot in this one.
